WASHINGTON — Jen Tolentino, Rock the Vote’s Director of Policy and Civic Technology, released the following statement in response to POLITICO’s report that President Trump has decided to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program:

“Since 2012, DACA has brought young Dreamers across our country out of the shadows to study, to work and to serve our country. Today’s decision to end this critical program is nothing less than a direct assault on nearly a million young Americans — as well as their friends, their coworkers, their neighbors and their loved ones.

“The federal government made a promise to DACA recipients. The president made a promise to DACA recipients. Needless to say, breaking that promise will galvanize our generation and fuel passionate political participation for years to come. And we won’t forget who broke it.”
